France’s island jewel: Porquerolles

France’s island jewel: Porquerolles

You can leave your car keys at home

With this distriKt Louis takes us to the small southern French island of Porquerolles, or Île de Porquerolles in French, a place where he spends much of his free time throughout the year. From the pictures we can see that Porquerolles is a quant island with an eye on tourism. The marina is beautiful and deep blue water surrounds the coast. To find the marina, just look for the rows of masts shooting up to the sky!

Just off the Côte d’Azur, Porquerolles is a fantastic place to set sail for a day on the water. Once you’re on the water, the hills in the distance provide a sublime backdrop. The water is crisp like an apple…even if it isn’t as sweet.

Bicycles are all over the island, making travel a pleasure and a little bit of exercise. What better way is there to discover a new place, or return to an old place, than via a bike ride in the sun? Even if it’s hot, we can take solace in knowing calories are being burned…

So rent a boat, rent a bike – cars aren’t allowed on the island! – and take a trip to Toulon (you have to go there first in order to get to Porquerolles). Or you can make your way over to Louis’s distriKt. Thanks for the local reporting Louis, and showing us another one of France’s beautiful islands.
